Freddy has grown up with modelling all around him, it's only in very recent times he's showed an interest. Back when he was 6 or 7 he did have lots of he Silverlit and X Twin toys. These models don't teach the proportional control needed for large model aeroplanes powered by IC or EP. Models like the Tame Cat are classed as Trainers and Sport Models. Freddy didnt find the out door flying as easy as the indoor flying he's been doing with Vapor and Micro Stick. The small models lend themselves to the click, click, blip ,blip of modern computer games, but a true proportional RC model needs a more measured control. He's been asking when he can fly again and I think he's hooked! The most recent School and Scout talks of dad went someway in making the hobby appear cool as his school chums all thought model aeroplanes were cool and now Fred does! As his dad I couldnt be happier. Many thanks to the HDMFC for giving him some stick time on the Club Trainer ( one of them). Halton actively encourage young people to have a 'go' flying model aeroplanes. There's a high proportion of beginners finding thier way to the club as they have a reputation for being helpful. if you live in Cheshire - Halton have vacancies for members, but last year so many members joined by summer there was talk of putting a limit on the numbers.
