Editorial Review:
After creating a gadget/fashion icon in the original MOTORAZR, Motorola has upped the ante with the new RAZR2 V9 with cutting edge technology and enhanced features that make it even easier to use. Offered via AT&T, the RAZR2 V9 offers super-fast downloads and multimedia streaming via AT&T's 3G HSDPA/UMTS network. It's fully loaded with an arsenal of digital tools, including a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth connectivity for streaming music and photo printing, MicroSD memory card expansion, dual color LCD screens, e-mail access, digital audio player, and full duplex speakerphone. And speaking of cutting edge, the phone's stainless steel internal frame and cast aluminum housing support makes the RAZR2 V9 stronger and more durable than its predecessor.
The RAZR2 V9 can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses HSDPA/UMTS technology (High Speed Downlink Packet Access/Universal Mobile Telephone System), making it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. It also gives AT&T the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services. In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. Cellular Video features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more. It also features AT&T Mobile Music, which provides access to the Napster subscription music as well as Music ID song-recognition software, music videos and The Buzz music news portal. The handset is MobiTV and XM Radio Mobile-capable, so you can enjoy streaming live TV and digital radio all in one device. (A MEdia Max subscription bundle is recommended for accessing AT&T's Internet, video, and music services.) With its quad-band connectivity, this phone communicates over GSM/GPRS networks and AT&T offers voice roaming in more than 190 countries and data roaming in more than 130 countries. Phone Features
The 2-megapixel camera includes an 8x digital zoom and it can automatically snap up to eight new pictures--letting you choose the best image from a complete series of pictures. You can even print photos wirelessly to a Bluetooth-compatible printer with just a few menu selections. It provides four resolution choices (from 320 x 240 to 1600 x 1200 pixels) and also features a self-timer, free memory space indicator, color effects, night mode for low-light shots, and five shutter sounds (with a silent mode). The RAZR2 V9 is also an impressive video camcorder, providing up to QCIF resolution (176 x 144 pixels). It also gives you the option of choosing the video format, which offers different frame rates--25 fps for MPEG and H263 and 15 fps for WMV and Real. You can record video for as long as you have available space on your MicroSD memory card.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server. The RAZR2 V9 features a full HTML browser (Opera 8.5) that takes advantage of high-speed wireless data connections for faster, bigger and richer web surfing experience. Built-in e-mail functionality (POP/IMAP/SMTP) combined with MobileSync software provides easy, PC-like access to both personal and corporate e-mail accounts and calendars. Other features include:

Summary: RAZR2 V9 Comment: Excellent phone, only issue, battery doesn't seem to have talk time that Motorola says it does. Customer Rating: Summary: Very Nice Phone. Comment: I've had this phone about 3 weeks now and am very happy with it. The sound and signal quality are both excellent, no dropped calls or unintelligible voices. Battery life is very good, usually only have to charge it up once a week with moderate use. In short, for $18(AT&T contract extension)this is a very good deal. Customer Rating: Summary: Good deal!! Comment: Replacement for older Razr that fell in water and finally after six months stopped working. It has taken a while to get used to using because of new features and updating. Good phone. Is a little bigger and weighs a little more. Still like it. Customer Rating: Summary: big flimsy fingerprint magnet Comment: good: big screen bad: flimsy (feels like slides both vertical and horizontal :), fingerprint magnet as non other phones, toons of ATT bloatware. Customer Rating: Summary: Nice phone, lousy ATT service, Amazon bad advice Comment: I purchased this phone after discussing with ATT (my current service provider) about how to best roll my old cell number over to this new phone. Additionally, I followed the instructions posted above from the link provided by Amazon on how to keep my old number. This information provided by Amazon is incorrect. You would think that rolling my old number from my three year old ATT service (contract obligations long since completed) over to the new Razr V9 with service by ATT would be easy. Not!! In fact I can't do it. ATT customer service, both the business account center and the regular service account folks, has been polite but unhelpful. They told me my only option is to pay a $175 cancellation fee on the new V9 from Amazon, return it to Amazon, and start up a new service under my old account which was left active, per the instructions provided by Amazon and ATT. And of course, they'll sell me the V9 for $169. If you want to keep your old number, don't use ATT. Customer support at ATT has been sorely lacking. Related Items
