Summary: Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series Cordless Phone System with Answering
Comment: Good System . The answer audio leaves a little to be desired, thus the 4 stars. I originally bought the two pieces but needed the three . Works well.

Summary: Panasonic wireless phone
Comment: The item was misleading on the web site.I thought it was a complete unit, but when received found out it was an auxiliary until and I required a mother base.I sent the unit back sent bought the right unit locally.

Summary: good phone
Comment: I have had this phone for over a year with 2 handsets. I use the intercom feature and speakerphone often. It has good sound and good range. I just got the third handset for an outbuilding and so far it works well, no problems at all, just plug it in. I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: A Fairly Decent Phone
Comment: I've owned the Panasonic Dect 6.0 expandable cordless phone system for about 8 months now. One of my handsets was stolen off of my porch one evening, so I needed a replacement. I can tell you the clarity is excellent, if you don't have too many walls or appliances between you and the base unit. There are nice features included: the speaker phone option on the handset is topnotch. You can flick it on, whenever you're placed on hold, listening to muzak, waiting for your call to go through. Most people will never know you're on a speakerphone if the handset is placed on a desktop in front of you.

If you experience call drops--sudden cutoffs in the middle of a call, you're probably too far from the base unit. If you have concrete walls or the base unit is parked two floors upstairs, this may happen more frequently. Unobstructed, the range is quite good, about 200+ feet. Just remember, this is only a cordless phone, not a walkie talkie.

I like the fact that regular rechargeable AAA batteries can be used. The factory originals are just adequate at 550 mAh. They will last all day with moderate to heavy use. But if you're prone to leaving your phone off the recharger for days and then having lengthy conversations, you'll want to upgrade to high capacity rechargeable AAAs @ 700 to 1000+ mAh. Even so, you should recharge the units nightly with moderate use. The battery indicator does not kid you at all: it's 3 bars when you're topped off. And at one bar, you should make your calls short and sweet or reach for the other handset--which should be on the recharger ready to go. When you do hear the low battery beep, you only have a couple of minutes left, at best. So, don't say I didn't warn you.

The handset locator is your best friend. These handsets are small and easily misplaced or buried under a cushion or papers.

The punch keys are large and easily read. So too, the view screen is very readable. You can adjust the contrast on the screen to suit. Other nice features include: easy retrievel of answering machine messages from the handset, a programable alarm clock, a built-in phonebook, caller ID, and a memory that stores your last 50 calls. Helpful if you forget to jot down an important phone number.

All in all, the phone does what I expect it to do. The one criticism is the quirky nature of occassional dropped calls. Again, proper base unit placement is essential. If you have a 3 floor house, the base unit should be on the second floor. You may need to experiment to get the best range out of this phone. However, I live in a concrete building with multiple floors--so I don't expect much from any cordless phone. There it is in a nutshell; this phone does the job if you don't expect too much from it: like stand too close to multiple active appliances or talk under high tension electricity lines across the street.

I do recommend this phone. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star rating is the lack of a battery back-up on the base unit to keep the phones working during a power outage. Panasonic used to build cordless phones with that very feature. So, they do have the technology but they chose not to employ it in this model. A small point, I'll concede, but it cost them one star in my rating.

Summary: Extension handset, works well
Comment: I bought extensions for this product up to the maximum of 6. All work well, having that many extensions works with my internet phone connection well. It's easy to transfer information from phone to phone, and easy to use the intercom feature to find those missing phones. I like this phone system. Started with 3 to test it out because I have not gotten phones I like as a general rule. This set I like.
