Editorial Review:
Visit Cloud Nine with Reader Rabbit and Sam the Lion! It's suddenly started raining wacky raingear, so let's high-tail it to find out what's up with the weather. With fun activities in spelling, math, vocabulary, and science, your forecast calls for a 100% chance of learning fun!
Rain gear is falling from the sky all over Readerville. Can you find out why and stop it? In this adventure game, kids direct Reader Rabbit and Sam the Lion on a quest to find out why the gear is falling over the land, and then put an end to the emergency.

Capers on Cloud Nine is one in a series of Reader Rabbit edutainment software for children from toddlers up to second grade. Intended for first-grade students (ages 5 to 7), Capers provides a fun framework for learning important developmental tasks.

In the course of stopping the rain of rain gear, kids have to work through different activities at three levels of difficulty. Activities include drills on spelling, phonics, science, arithmetic, using coins, and sorting patterns. Fortunately, none of these are done in a tedious or frustrating way. The game also offers an art activity where kids can make simple moving pictures.

Parents can check their children's progress and comprehension by consulting a grading section in the program. It lets kids and parents know how a child is progressing through the game's tasks.

Learning Creations is a separate program included on the CD-ROM that allows kids to draw, make music, or create a calendar. The drawing program is more open than the art activity in the game, and the music section teaches the basics of reading and writing music. The calendar lets kids decorate and mark a calendar onscreen. You can print out all three activities when a child is done.

The voices and music are both great, and are appropriate for the audience. The animation leaves a little to be desired--kids used to Rugrats might want a little more zip--but this doesn't detract from the game or the learning. --Jeff Quick
In this title, kids will journey to the clouds and help Reader Rabbit figure out what's up with the weather while learning first grade skills in science, reading, and math. The wild ride up to Cloud Nine with Reader Rabbit and Sam the Lion begins when it suddenly starts raining wacky raingear. Kids will meet the Cloud Queen and Irvin the Inventor as they explore Cloud Nine, the Raingear Forest, and other amazing places. With irresistibly fun activities, the forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of learning fun.

Summary: captivating software
Comment: I bought Reader Rabbit Cloud Nine for my 6-year-old son after he came home from school asking for it. He can play it pretty much independently and learns math, reading and more as he does so. Looked for it in all the local stores and couldn't find it anywhere. Highly recommended.

Summary: Not very challenging...
Comment: My daughter graduated from Kindergarten yesterday and today is the first day of summer vacation..so we got out this game and were prepared for a summer full of learning from this game.

My kid figured it out in less than 2 hours.

If it said this was for beginning Kindergarteners, I would love it...but it's way too far below someone going into 1st grade.

Summary: Wonderful reading cd-rom!
Comment: My 7 year old daughter goes to a reading tutor, who recommended this CD-Rom and uses it with her students. My 7 year old loves it, and so does my 5 year old. I would highly recommend Reader Rabbit 1st Grade.
