Summary: Maybe the best and heavist book I ever read..
Comment: A GREAT READ, A MUST READ, A DIFFICULT READ. I HAD TO PUT THE BOOK down 3 TIMES ON MY COMMUTE WITH TEARS IN MY EYES. This book will give me some of strongest and most lasting memories, and I have read a lot on the holocaust. This time you can really feel for the characters and their plight. Mila 18 can make you hate and runs the gammet on emotions.

It is important and we have all heard it before that we never forget, so that we never repeat. But history repeates itself over and over again. similar situations are going on in 1999, just not as obvious.

Summary: Another Great Uris Epic!
Comment: Uris delivers another stunning historical fiction epic in Mila 18, which accounts the struggle of Polish Jews in the ghetto of Nazi occupied Warsaw. As usual, the fictional characters are extremely well developed and the story is emotional. From the initial German invasion of Poland to the rebellion of the Jews during the final liquidation of the ghetto, Uris delivered and action-filled and poignant narrative of courage and sacrifice. While heartbreaking at times, it was also very inspiring to see the Jews defy the Nazis regardless of the repercussions. Survival of their heritage was paramount despite being outnumbered and brutally treated. This powerful narrative is a testament to Uris's incredible writing skills and a great supplement to QBVII.

Comment: This is a great fictional account of the Warsaw uprising during Nazi Occupation of Poland. I found it to be very educational regarding Jewish history and very inspirational. It is a story of courage in the face of grave danger. It took me a little while to read this book. As I read it, I knew there would be no happy endings however, it was great to witness how a small band of fighters kept the German army at bay. Uris created great characters both evil and good in this book. Recommend.

Comment: As always Leon Uris tells a story of love and courage with a backdrop of war, scattered with characters you come to love and care about. Mila 18 was inspired from the backstory of one of his characters in Exodus, Dov. Dov had survived for years in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II and participated in the Warsaw Uprising. Reading this beautiful story, you get to know how badly the Nazis treated the Jews during World War II prior to the "final solution". The dignitiy and courage of the Jews who resisted the indignities forced upon them. The Jewish uprising which forced the Nazis out of ghetto recaptured, for a few weeks, Polish soil from the Nazis.
